Introduction

~STORY SUMMARY~

Brooklet Avenue follows Penny Brown, Brielle Brown, and Benjamin Brown, three siblings who have been living with their aunt, Sadie Brown, in a River Town for five years. They have been with their aunt ever since mysterious creatures, known as the “Infected,” began appearing all over the world, causing the Brown siblings to have to leave their previous home. Their aunt is a polite, but kind of strange woman who runs a flower shop, known as Brooklet Avenue Floristry, she has an interest in botany, and enjoys pairing the townspeople with specific flowers based on their personalities, even changing her surname to be “Foxglove.” Over the years, the people of The River Town have found ways to adapt to their new world, but some have a harder time accepting their new reality than others, some even try to ignore it, and find themselves living in a world of escapism.

~NATURE’S REVIVAL~

Nature’s Revival is a concept from a poem made by Sadie Foxglove, in which the Infection will go through three steps, ultimately shaping a new world. Those steps as described by the poem being: Step I - Springtime Survival, Step II - Winter’s Arrival, and Step III - Nature’s Revival. The thing about this concept is that it can be interpreted in different ways, and no one knows when each step will start and when it will end, the only marker being Sadie’s “hunch” that a strong, unnatural winter will fall over their land sometime soon. However “soon” is arguable, as “soon” can mean either a few months or a few years (the later being what happened).

~STORYTELLING~

(What to expect from this blog)

The storytelling for Brooklet Avenue has always been a bit strange, due to the fact that it was originally made to be shown in the form of illustrations, but eventually spiraled into a whole plot with things that simply can’t just be shown (as things normally go with my stories). Unfortunately I have accidentally created a story that I want you guys to experience in chronological order and actually get to experience the twists and turns of the story… when I simply didn’t make it to be viewed that way (Harmony Academy is already taking up that role, all five of my stories can’t be a full fledged written and illustrated comic, so here we are). I’m not much of a writer despite writing stories (you could say I like “telling” or “showing” stories, not writing them) so the best way to show this story to you all is unfortunately just by explaining it all, which makes the storyteller in me weep but it is what it is. Something to note is that the story officially starts in Step I - Springtime Survival, which is what the story summery was about, and anything before that is considered “the past.” Whether there is anything after Step III or not is still being contemplated as the story doesn’t wrap up in Step III but I can’t just add a fourth step, so I’m still working that out. Whenever and however the current story wraps up, there’s a decent chance I will eventually make a “different story but same universe” type story, or like a spin off or something, but we’ll get there when we get there.

Because of how I’m going about this, you’re going to get majorly spoiled, and what I mean by that is that due to me explaining the past or mentioning stuff from the future, you will know certain information before other information and therefore you’ll be able to see certain plot points or twists coming. This is where my storytelling side starts to have troubles, so I will be including spoiler warnings just in case anyone wants to see the story in chronological order. Though with how I’m doing things I don’t blame any of you who just ignores the spoiler warnings and looks at stuff anyways. That’s just how it’s going to be unfortunately.

So, what should you expect from this blog?

For starters, I plan on writing more detailed posts for the stories, not like if you were to be reading a book, just explaining a part of the story in a more formatted and cleaner way (where I won’t be jumping in to add in little notes like I tend to do in my notes… exactly what I’m doing right now..).

There will also be posts of what I can best describe as “notes,” posts where I will explain situations and stuff as myself, in other words, you get all my run on sentences and side notes within parentheses! How fun! (Not that there won’t be run on sentences anywhere else, I just can’t escape them… they.. always catch up to me… cuz they run too fast…… *badum tsss* … This is why I’m not a writer.)

Something that’s kind of a mix of the two is what I can best describe as informative posts. These are the posts that will be either character profiles or world-building lore dumps. Don’t expect much of that though, at least not any time soon, I’m notoriously bad at keeping up with character profiles and world-building posts.

So yeah! That’s the main things you can expect, but this blog will basically just have anything that explains the story in a way I see fitting, except illustrations, if I really want a visual to go with a post I’ll include a little something but artwork will stay exclusive to the gallery blog. Any art on here is mainly for aesthetic purposes.

~EXPLORING THE BLOG~

As per usual, there will be a post (or in this case: page) specifically for links for easier navigation. Once a post is made, anything discussing the plot will be ordered in chronological order of the story, not the date the post was made. If I can’t find somewhere to order a specific post (say if it has too much information about various topics) or if it is a note post specifically, then there will be a section for those posts, and will probably be ordered by date and not chronological order. To make understanding easier, if I think information is important enough to understand something and have a post discussing it, there will be a link in that post that will bring you to the post discussing that topic to fill in the blanks (if you’ve seen how links are used in The Powers Unite story plot blog, you will understand better what I’m talking about). I also might eventually add an “updates” page if I feel it is needed, if I do you will find it next to the “Playlists” page on the sidebar.

With all that said: Here’s the link to the gallery blog/original blog.

Brooklet Avenue

If you go down to the first post on that blog there will be a link to a Brooklet Avenue Pinterest board if that interests you, as well as the Brooklet Avenue Playlist that I hope to get up on this blog eventually (I’m not messing with my Pinterest boards again, so you can just use that link to view it).

I hope you enjoy learning about the story :)
